SPOOKTOBER

was the Halloween-centric promo campaign I created, for BBC First, in Poland and CEE regions.

We were briefed to cut through the expected Halloween season communications by establishing BBC First’s unique, classically British quirks and values. We created a campaign centred on an invitation to the high society event of the season, plagued by humanity’s truest fear: engaging with bad manners and cringy behaviour…

Our aim was to tap into humanity’s truest and darkest fear: the cringe of handling bad manners and awkward behaviour. This was also a great set up for tapping into our audience’s love of period dramas like Downton Abbey and Bridgerton, where polite behaviour and social decorum are paramount (and ripe for flying in the face of).

We collaborated with design agency RATCHET to create the visuals, as well as these pieces of digital key art. Our key references were Downton Abbey movie posters, with characters posed in this period portrait style. This also informed our end board design, tying the whole campaign together.

We also created alternative sizes of our promos, specced for social media use in the region.

My creative leads were Mary Gregory, Meriem Adib and Sarah Johnson. Additional edit work was done by Pete Fehervari. The graphic design was created by RATCHET, Online edit and branding were applied by Dan Knight, and sound was mixed, recorded and completed by Charlie Cooper at Clearcut Studios. Translation work done by VSI.
